Table Talk: Taking Hold Of Our Longing

Text: 2 Corinthians 4:16-5:10

Questions:

  1. God has designed this world to create in us a longing for something greater. What are you longing for right now, and how does that longing point you toward eternity?
  2. Does longing reveal our brokenness and/or the brokenness of this world? How does the gospel shine through that brokenness?
  3. Reflect on 4:17. What is the eternal weight of glory that we are being prepared for? How does that future promise inform our response to the craziness of today?

Prayer Points:

  1. Father, would you help us to not lose heart in this season of difficulty? Regardless of what comes our way, would you root us in the truth of your promises?
  2. Would you help us see how this moment of hardship is actually preparing our hearts for eternity?
  3. Holy Spirit, would you help us direct the longings of our hearts toward their place of true fulfillment?
  4. Let’s pray that through our response as broken vessels, God would allow the gospel to shine brightly to our family and neighbors.
