2. Matthew 6:5-6 – What was the criticism that Jesus had with the prayer of the hypocrites (v.5)? How did Jesus encourage them to pray (v.6)? What was the reward for they hypocrite and what was the reward for the one who prays in secret (5b, 6b)? How do we guard our hearts from the praise of man?
3. Matthew 6:7-8 – Why should we take into consideration the truth that God is our Father when we pray? How does it encourage you knowing that God knows “what you need before you ask” (v.8)? Why do we pray if God knows these things and what should be the goal of our prayers?
4. Matthew 6:9-13 – What is the first thing Jesus teaches His disciples should pray? How does this help orient the rest of our prayers? Which of the prayers that Jesus teaches us to pray has been most challenging for you to pray, why? How should our private prayers shape our public prayers?
