Sermon Questions for July 24, 2022

Colossians 3:1-4

Recap:

1. What truth should we remember so that we are not taken captive by empty deceits (Col 2:9-10)?

2. How did this occur? (Col 2:12-14)

Reteach:

3. Colossians 3:1a – What does it mean that we have been raised with Christ (see Col 2:11-15 for help)? How much of our identity should this impact? What are a few reasons we can be forgetful of this? And what are ways that the Lord helps to remember that we are in Christ?

4. Colossians 3:1b-2 – What is the imperative given to us in this passage (seek the things that are above), and more importantly, what is the indicative (you have been raised with Christ)? How does our identity help us to follow this command? How do we set our minds on the things above or on the mind of Christ?

5. Colossians 3:3-4 – What is our currently reality according to Paul? How does this truth encourage our hearts today? What is the promise that Paul gives us in this passage?

Reflect:

6. Where do you have your mind set on, do you have it set on the things of this earth or on the things above?

7. Be reminded of your identity, you have been buried with Christ and have been raised with Christ are made alive in Him.
