Family Ministry at First Irving
At First Irving our mission to make disciples drives all our ministries including the ones dedicated to our children. We believe that the Scriptures teach that God created and established the institution of the family and we want to follow His Word and all it says concerning the family. We believe that the Scriptures teach us that parents are the primary disciple makers for their children and are responsible for teaching them about God and having fellowship with Him through Christ. (Deut 6:4-9; Ps.78:4-8; Eph 6:4). This leads us to focus the outworking of our family ministry in two ways.
First, we seek to equip our parents for the daily work of ministry that occurs within the home. This begins with our desire to encourage and challenge our parents to grow in their fear of the Lord and to seek God with all their hearts. We then want to equip parents to know how to teach their children about the joy of knowing and following Jesus, entrusting them with the Gospel message.
Second, we desire to come alongside parents as a church to help teach children the glorious truths of the Gospel. We seek to accomplish this through our Preschool, Kids, and Student ministries as we come alongside families to help disciple their children for the glory of God.
