Sermon Questions for March 12, 2023

Ecclesiastes 6:10 – 7:14

Recap:

1. Why is it important to remember that everything we have is from God and what is it important to acknowledge this truth?

2. What temptations can occur with wealth if we’re not careful?

Reteach:

3. Ecclesiastes 6:10 -12 – What verse in this passage leads us to consider the sovereignty of God (v.10, 7:14)? Why do we at times struggle with the idea that God is in control over all things? How does understanding our own limitation of man help us to trust in God? How can we have peace knowing that God controls our seasons of joys and adversity?

4. Ecclesiastes 7:1-10 – What are specific ways does this passage show us that God’s wisdom is different than our natural thinking? How can death be helpful to us in making us wise? What is one way the way you think has shifted since coming to know Christ?

5. What hope does Solomon provide the reader after making the distinction that our wisdom is not like God’s (v.13)? How should the example of Jesus trusting the Father perfectly, when facing the cross, help us to trust God in our current circumstances? When we find ‘crookedness’ in our thinking or actions – what approach should we take for it to be made straight (Whose work is this attributed too in v. 13)?

Reflect:

6. When you consider the difficulty and trials of your life, how has God used them to conform you into the image of Christ?
